Currently using the latest versions of inDesign CC and Acrobat Pro but I have had this problem for many versions of the same software. We use a 4-color press, but I often receive PDFs that have Pantone spot colors. To convert them to cmyk by selecting the icon to “move or make changes to object,” click on an object, select Properties, then the Color tab. I choose to convert to US web uncoated v2, rendering intent relative colorimetric, click Embed profile and then click convert colors. My colors appear to be converted in the pdf, so I Save As. I then place the pdf into my magazine layout. Life seems beautiful. But…many (or most) times I find that when I output to a pdf from that document, the Pantone colors are back. I have used the ink manager and the same thing happens. What am I doing wrong?

In addition, I have a pdf that includes two Pantone colors and text done using a black color named “Auto.” I didn’t want to convert Auto to cmyk, so I used the ink manager to alias that color to process black. It didn’t work. Again, what am I doing wrong?

      Thanks!
