This question has to do with linked files in InDesign CS4 which are not updating nor are they showing an exclamation mark icon in the Links panel.

To replicate the problem, save a Photoshop file. Place the Photoshop file into Illustrator. Add any Illustrator elements: type, shapes, and so on. Save the Illustrator file. Place the Illustrator file into InDesign. Now, open the Photoshop file in Photoshop and crop it (cropping is an important step and may be where things are going wrong), and save it. Open the Illustrator file that contains the placed Photoshop file and save it so that the placed Photoshop file is updated. Now open the InDesign file -- no warning that the placed file has changed and no exclamation mark in the Links panel. Is there any way to fix this problem or is it a bug that I'm stuck with?

Since using cs4, I cannot print from the program without having to move everyting over 1/4 in.
For some reason it seems to move everything over and down.
Any suggestions on what is causing this?

Why you did not support adding footnotes into tables in ID CS4 version?
Why?

Agree, there is a lot of new very smart features, but.... foot-notes options lack some flexibility sush as where you want your foot-note to be placed (column-wise). It has taken me some effort to try to solve that, without any luck. Does anyone know how to come around this?

Rae, perhaps there's an issue with a font manager or plug-in?

Wow, that's pretty weird. I wonder if rebuilding preferences would have helped.

I loaded the CS4 demo on my Macbook Pro, along with CS3. Tried to work on a file I had worked on in the past with no problem in CS3. The fonts were not loading properly. Same fonts as I had used in the past. Only difference -- I had installed CS4. After trying umpteen different things it finally occurred to me this may be the problem. I uninstalled CS4 (and there is an "Uninstall" icon now, you can't just drag it out of the Applications folder). Everything's back to normal and my fonts are working just fine. I don't know what's going on but they are not 100% compatible on the same machine. Not for me.

Hi David, I appreciate your comment, unfortunately I do not believe that I could understand what you meant, as you need to change the footnote as will as the reference put with the text, and they must be identical, and travel with the text. Please explain more.
Thank you for your precious time.

@Zarief: You can do this by applying the paragraph style manually to each footnote (just place cursor in the footnote and click on a paragraph style). However, you cannot do it automatically.

Great features, but is there a way to make multiple footnote "Numbering Styles" within same Adobe InDesign Cs3 or Cs4 file (I already have books which contain those multiple numbering styles, printed more than 30 years ago!!).
Example:
- 1 2 3... for economic footnotes
- a b c... for political footnotes
- i ii iii... for social footnotes

whenever you try to change a footnote Numbering Style, it would change the style in the whole document??!!
If you cannot do this directly in InDesign, is there any third party plug in who does this?

Thank you,
Zarief
