Adobe InCopy CC Price Drop

Last week during the PePcon conference, I was speaking to a colleague who reminded me of some significant news that has occurred recently that affects all of us in the InDesign/InCopy community. The news is that Adobe recently dropped the price of Adobe InCopy! The cost is now $4.99/month when you sign up for an annual plan, and $7.99/month if you sign up for a monthly plan. That’s a 75% price drop! This is huge news to companies who have been resisting upgrading to InCopy CC due to the recurring cost. But $4.99/month is really hard to argue with. That’s about the price of a hoagie or a coffee from certain coffee shops! InCopy is of course still part of a full Creative Cloud subscription so there’s no change for those users.

Why?

One can only speculate the “why” behind Adobe’s decision to reduce the price of InCopy. The last time Adobe dropped the price of a product was… never? That may not be completely true but they certainly don’t make a habit of it. Possibly they’re trying to make InCopy more viable to a larger audience or they realize that the monthly cost has been a roadblock for many users. After all, in many situations more licenses of InCopy are required for the editorial staff compared to InDesign licenses for the design staff. The new pricing makes it a no-brainer. Regardless, I applaud Adobe’s decision and hope that more users embrace InCopy and the power of the workflow in their organization.
