To force InDesign to constrain proportions when applying width, height, or scale values in the Control panel, press Ctrl+Enter/Command+Enter. This way, you can leave both chains “broken” and only constrain proportions when you mean to via the keyboard shortcut.
I could be misunderstanding, but this seems to launch Quick Apply only. Am I missing something?
Yes, you have to have the cursor in one of the value fields first, if not it launches Quick Apply.
Odd: I’ve tried this in each of the fields and it still launches Quick Apply. I’m on Win 10 and InDesign 14.0.2 x64.
Excellent tip that I knew once and totally forgot about! Thanks!
