New Contest! Solve the Mystery of the Missing Image

Last month, many of you enjoyed solving the mystery of the low first baseline. So as promised, we’re back with a brand new contest that will get you thinking deep InDesign thoughts—and give you a chance to win a great prize. This time, you have to explain what’s going on in the screenshot below.

You can see that an image has been placed into the selected frame, both from the presence of the Content Grabber (aka the “donut”), and the highlighted image in the Links panel. And yet, there’s not a trace of the image visible in the frame. How can this be? The image is placed at 100% size and it’s 100% opaque, as the Effects panel shows.

OK, those are all the clues you get, but I know you can figure this one out!

Email me your solution at mike at indesignsecrets.com before Wednesday February 18th, 2015.

At that time, I’ll reveal the solution and choose one winner at random from the correct answers. That person will receive a full license to Suitcase Fusion 6, the premiere font management solution for Mac and Windows from Extensis! That’s a $120 value, and it will help you take control of your fonts once and for all.
