There doesn’t seem to be a vid on this page to play…
Sorry about that, Bruce. Technical difficulty… fixed now, I think!
Nice, David. I used this effect once in a design, although I did it in Illustrator where one can use a mask.
Hello, none of the videos play after clicking. Thanks.

Terry: Wow, yes, it appears that all the Lynda.com videos are broken… something wrong with Lynda.com today perhaps? We’ll look into it.
Still not playing for me!
UPDATE:
Two of the four videos are now working via my iPhone 5s ios6: “Reverse Text When Partially Over a Dark Object” and “When the Control Panel is Missing Controls.”
Must be all the California rain washing out some code… :-]
It’s not just the videos that are broken!!
I’ve completed David’s course on InDesign CC 2017, which was first class, as usual. And today, I finished updating my presentation skills, i.e., Keynote, PowerPoint 2016, not forgetting, of course, InDesign. All the tutors were excellent, however, Lynda.com was not! When it came to the practice exam for PowerPoint 2016 they actually labelled it Microsoft Outlook 2013!!! What is wrong with them? Don’t they know the difference between PowerPoint 2016 and Outlook 2013?
The same kind of thing happened when I took Mike’s course: QuarkXPress 2016 , as the lack of proofreading diminished the excellence of the tuition and course.
With the greatest of respect Lynda.com should employ proofreaders because their content leaves such a lot to be desired!
FRIDAY 24th, videos still not working…
