Free Webinar on Optimizing InDesign Files for Translation

4
Here at InDesignSecrets, we’re proud of the fact that folks come to our site from all around the world to learn about InDesign. According to Google, each week visitors from almost every country on Earth read our tips and articles, comment on our posts and forums, and download our magazine and templates. It’s true, we’re still waiting for our first visitor from Vatican City, but folks from literally everywhere else have checked in.
So I figured it was likely that many of you would be interested in news about a free webinar on how to optimize InDesign files for translation. The webinar is being offered by Stefano Bernardi, co-founder of Redokun, and contributor here at InDesignSecrets and InDesign Magazine.
The 45-minute session takes place on Wednesday July 18, 2018. Here’s the official description from Stefano: “I’ll cover many different topics, from the use of InDesign, to the impact of your layout choices, how to deal with images, and so on. If you work on documents that are translated in other languages, you should definitely join me.”
You can find out more and register for the webinar here.

    Dear Mike,

I’m very much interested in this topic since I developed and on a daily basis use/sell a software aid (in JavaScript) that makes it possible to automatically merge translated texts back into InDesign while keeping all originally existed local formattings. But I’m afraid I will not be able to join the webinar because of the time zone differences (I live in Hungary, Mid-East Europe).

Will it be possible to see the recorded stream at a later time?

    All the best,
    Tamás

    • Mike Rankin says:

Hi Tamás- I don’t know but you could contact Stefano ( stefano [at] redokun.com) and ask him.

  • Tamás Nagy says:

    Thx Mike,
meanwhile I recognised that there will be two occasions,
both in standard European worktime so I had no reason to worry. :)

  • Tamás Nagy says:

    Well-well…

This webinar did tell us some useful but still basic ideas on creating translation-friendly InDesign documents. Really. Just enough info to raise the interest of the audience but not more.

As far as I recognised it’s main goal was to find new customers for a really fine and functional translation aid system this Italian firm offers.

    It’s okay, no pain.

The only problem with it is that here in Mid-East Europe we usually don’t create too many books to be translated later to many Western European languages. We usually try to use those documents that were originally created (for example) in Great Britain, without any thought of a later mutational issue. Btw sometimes without any brains at all but maybe it’s my opinion only. :D

So thx for the opportunity. Maybe I’ll make another advertisement soon about OUR system. :)
