Huge Discount to InDesign Magazine for InDesignSecrets Listeners and Readers

12

InDesign Magazine, the premier magazine for InDesign professionals, is offering InDesignSecrets listeners/readers a special discount: US$69 for a two-year subscription plus two years of back issues FREE!

(Normally, each back issue is $11, so the full set of back issues is worth $110 by itself! And don’t worry, virtually all of the articles from 2 years ago are still very relevant today.)

Note that InDesign Magazine is a bi-monthly PDF magazine, so there are no hidden or extra costs for international subscribers. No matter where you are, you get the magazine on the same day as everyone else.

To get the discount, please sign up to either our free podcast or free email newsletter. Then go to https://www.indesignmag.com/idm/purchase.html, select “2-year subscription $69” and enter indesignsecrets in the Promotional Code box. (To be totally honest, we’re not going to check to make sure you’ve signed up for the podcast or newsletter first, but we sure hope you do anyway.)

Hello Anne-Marie and David. I love your podcasts. I am relatively new to ID CS2 (and ID altogether) having used it now for just 9 mo. I edit and help compile a 68 page catalog for signwarehouse.com twice a year. So far so good, however, editing just the text seems harder than it should be. We do proofs, make changes on paper, re-edit, etc. I read one of Ann-Marie’s columns here somewhere on In-Copy, which I thought would be the answer for my boss and I to work on proofs together. But reading about certain headaches and scripts that available (for Mac only) leads me to shy away from a program that might be problematic. Not to mention we’re PC based.

As a newbie to the design field in general, I would like to know the easiest way to get the job done of editing a good size document with gazillions of individual text boxes.

Please take into consideration that I am also trying to learn PhotoShop at the same time, not to mention Illustrator is on my “to learn” list as well. I am happy to say that Bridge is helpful and quite easy to use.

I am similar to that guy that downloaded all of the podcasts and listened to them non-stop. I listened to 2 on the way to work, 2 on the way home, and two while exercising at the gym each evening. I too hear “dah dah dah dah, DAHHH, DAHHH dah dah” playing in my head throughout the day against my will!

One more comment on your great podcast (my first ever by the way, on the Nano my son gave me for my 50th birthday!)… anything at a “getting started” level involving ID CS2 relating to design and ease of use would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll listen to # 27 and # 28 at the gym tomorrow. What will I do then? Keep ’em coming!

    Thanks, Les O’Riley

I recently subscribed to InDesign Magazine but never received any information regarding how to access the PDFs. The web sign-up never sent a confirmation nor was I ever asked to create a username and password.

I’ve sent a couple of emails to several of the addresses listed on their “Contact Us” web page but have not gotten a single reply.

Does anyone get InDesign Magazine? Are they still in business? Has anyone had a similar experience with them?

  • Anne-Marie says:

Michael, they’re definitely still in business, I just submitted an article for the upcoming issue and got a quick thank-you from the editor. Are you sure the communications from them aren’t ending up in your Junk folder or something?

In the meantime I’ll send a link to your comment to the editor.

  • Terri Stone says:

Michael, I’m the editor in chief of InDesign Magazine. I’ve instructed the magazine’s director of operations to personally investigate your situation. In the meantime, please send an email to me at tstone [at] indesignmag.com that includes the email address you used when you signed up for a subscription. Having that information will help us expedite your request.

We’ll figure this out quickly so you can start reading the magazine!

  • Cindy Samco says:

    Mr. Aery,

We have record of sending you two email message on 9/10/200 (the day of your order) with download information to the current issue and all back issues (you subscribed for 2 years). The email address you used looks to be a specific email address for the magazine with the domain [deleted].

We also have no record of any follow-up emails from that address or with your name attached to it.

We would be happy to resend the download information to any email address of your choosing. Please email cindy [at] creativepro.com with the correct email and we’ll get the emails sent right away.

  • Michael Aery says:

Thank you all for your quick response! I’m very happy to know the problem was due to lost email and not the magazine’s demise. I will follow-up with Terri and Cindy via email. Thanks again!

  • Jennie says:

Hi Michael, I’m glad you got the IDM problem resolved. In addition, you might want to try the book “Real World InDesign CS2.” (the CS3 version comes out later this year) I find it to be clear, relevant and humorous. Don’t give up on InDesign…it beats the alternative by light years.

Does the offer still stand today? I hope so since I just subscribed…

  • joecab says:

just for the record … it does! I just got links to all the back issues. The first one is free for everyone.

  • frazer says:

    yep still active…

  • Nicole H. says:

I was a subscriber to InDesign Magazine, but let my subscription lapse, as I couldn’t justify the renewal price. I had already downloaded all the previous issues (I have up through issue 25).

If there were a less expensive renewal path that excluded the ability to download all the previous issues, I would happily renew my subscription.

    Is this promotion still valid?
