InDesign CS6 8.0.2 Bug Update Released
There has been some debate about whether, now that InDesign CC has been released, there would be any more updates to InDesign CS6. InDesign CS6 is still available for purchase with a perpetual license, and it can be downloaded if you have a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud.
Today, September 30, 2013, the question was answered: Adobe released a bug fix update which it recommends to all CS6 users. The short description of fixes reads: “InDesign CS6 8.0.2 update provides key fixes for PDF export, EPUB export, IDML and other areas. It is recommended for all users.” Here is a link to the release notes with more details.
You can download the update in one of three ways: (1) from Help > Updates in InDesign CS6; (2) from the Creative Cloud Desktop (CCD) application if you’re an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber; or (3) from the InDesign downloads page at the Adobe website. (Tip: If you don’t see it in CCD, quit the application and relaunch to force it to check more than every 24 hours.)

Having read that the update was available, I looked under the Help menu of InDesign CS6 and, for some weird reason, “Updates” was greyed out.
So I launched Adobe Application Manager and the update was listed there and downloaded as usual. Now “Updates” is no longer greyed out. Weird!
Update for InCopy CS6 8.02 is also available.
I currently have InDesign CS6 8.0.1 but when I select Help > Updates the 8.0.2 update doesn’t show up. Any ideas why?

Thank you! I’m still curious as to why other updates appear in the built-in updating mechanism but not this one. But thanks again for the quick reply.
The automatic updating mechanism has never been perfect. Fortunately, there are multiple ways of getting the update.
Hi – do I need to install 8.0.1 before I install 8.0.2 or is the 8.0.2 update a cumulative update?
Hi, I have the same question if someone could advise please… do I need to install 8.0.1 before I install 8.0.2 or is the 8.0.2 update a cumulative update?

@Steve and @WandaToo: In general the upgrades are cumulative… you shouldn’t need to do one and then the other.
In our office, we have 2 cloud subscribers and 2 perpetual license holders running InDesign CS6.
We are currently working on our new catalogue in conjunction with a design company (also running on CS6).
One of the cloud subscribers got an update available message, checked the Adobe website for info, and found that it was recommended for all CS6 users.
Thinking that it was a ‘bug fix’, he ran the update link.
a couple of days later, we all discovered that we couldn’t open any of his files that had been saved after the update.
In effect he no longer has the same version software as the rest of us.
This is not an ‘update’ but an upgrade(??) to a new, non backward compatible version.
Once again Adobe show that they are a company with a great future behind it!
I’ve run the 8.0.2 updater several times on two systems and neither one says that the InDesign version is now 8.0.2. Is that correct? These are both Cloud versions of CS6. Why does the updater not work?
