InDesign Magazine Issue 62: A Fresh Start

We’re happy to announce that InDesign Magazine Issue 62 (June, 2014) is now available! This month’s theme is A Fresh Start.

Brian Wood has been teaching folks how to customize InDesign for maximum efficiency. And in this issue, he shares his Top Ten Tips for tweaking InDesign so it works the way you want it to.

Then Sandee Cohen takes a deep dive into the settings of the Word Import Options dialog box. If you’ve ever struggled to get Word content into your InDesign documents with a minimum of hassle, this article is for you!

Ilene Strizver gives readers an up close look at the world of small caps. Knowing how and when to use them can add a wonderful amount of sophistication to any type design.

When it comes to working with InDesign effects, Mike Rankin is your guy. And in this issue he shows how to accomplish an amazing trick: filling live text with any photo, color, or pattern on any background.

Chad Chelius reviews MadeToTag, an extension that can help you make accessible PDFs.

Finally, the Best of the Blog gathers up some great posts you absolutely don’t want to miss, including drop cap text wrap, complex list numbering, GREP styles, page number prefixes, relinking graphics, and a lot more.

You can find every issue of InDesign Magazine here, or by clicking Magazine above.

Enjoy!

Thanks for another great issue, guys. I especially liked the Fresh Start article in which I found a few new tricks I shall apply in retrospect and upon re-install (if I ever have to again).

One, IMHO very important, tip was missing and that is to make a back-up of your settings once you have finished. Saves a lot of work when you do have to reinstall.

    Anyway, 5 stars from me!

  • Hi, is this magazine only available on the US store? I am trying to find it in the UK newstand but it isnt there?
    Many thanks
    David

    • Hi David: Are you looking in the Apple iTunes store? No, InDesign Magazine is a PDF magazine that members can download from this site (follow the link in the article, or click Magazine in the nav bar at the top of the page). We hope you consider becoming a member.
