InDesign Secrets Video: Making a Character Style Change Only the Tint of Your Text
Most InDesign features are carefully positioned and presented in the user interface so that you know where they are and can find them quickly the next time you want to use them. In the industry jargon, they are “discoverable.” But there are some features that are almost totally hidden, so you’d probably never come across them. Hey, that’s why we call them “secrets,” right? And in the latest InDesignSecrets video at lynda.com, David Blatner reveals one such “secret” feature: character styles that only affect the tint of text color. So with this trick, you can use one character style to, say, change the tint of text to 50% of whatever color that text happens to be.
It’s really cool, useful, and the kind of thing that will win you major Geek points with your co-workers, so check out the video and learn the simple but obscure technique for making characters styles that control tints.
David Blatner is an evil genius! That trick is worth “ONE MILLIONNNNN DOLLLLARRRRRSSSS”
That’s badass!!! Done and saved. And so. darn. easy.
Great!!!
This has happened a few times, clicking on the link for “making a character style change only the tint of your text” takes me to a video about table expanding. Basically, it just takes me to a different video than the one mentioned in the linked text. Am I doing something wrong?
Sorry, the last few InDesignSecrets videos seem to have gone behind the the paywall at lynda. I’ll investigate and see what’s up.
Update: It’s fixed now. Enjoy!
