InDesign/InCopy 4.03 Update
Adobe released InDesign 4.0.3 and InCopy 4.0.3 for both Macintosh and Windows today. The latest patch fixes a number of bugs and glitches with graphics, text, converting documents, and “performance” (slow downs and unexpected quits).
InCopy CS2 users will be especially interested in this update since according to the ReadMe that accompanies the update, 4.03 squashes the bug that resulted in corrupt InCopy stories! (I’ve seen it for myself and it’s not pretty.)
The easiest way to get the either update is to go to your Help menu and choose Updates. The Adobe Updater will start up, check the Adobe website for updates to all your CS2 programs, and offer to download them. Click the Show Details checkbox if you just want to download the Adobe InDesign (or InCopy) CS2 4.03 update.
Alternatively you can go directly to Adobe’s web site and download the updates here:
- InDesign CS2 Macintosh 4.03 Update
- InDesign CS2 Windows 4.03 Update
- InCopy CS2 Macintosh 4.03 Update
- InCopy CS2 Windows 4.03 Update
The updater application will update any CS2 version (4.0, 4.01, 4.02) to version 4.03.
I mentioned this on the InDesign List, but the release notes mention (for Windows) a necessary Microsoft patch to enable extended or accented characters for Links that originate on Macs. Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, moved the referenced software -and- changed the install instructions from those which Adobe provided. The new URL is found here and the install instructions are simply to run the included “idndl.x86.exe” installer found in the “Microsoft IDN Mitigation APIs\Redist” directory.
