PR: Em Software releases InDesign CS5 versions of Data Publishing Plug-ins

1

Em Software finished releasing today its suite of data publishing products – InData, InCatalog, and Xtags – for the latest version of Adobe’s InDesign, CS5.

“These new versions can take advantage of some remarkable new features in InDesign CS5,” Chris Roueche (Em’s CTO) points out. “In particular, the new column-straddling and multi-column paragraph properties enable complex data-driven layouts to be built by InData or Xtags.”

Roueche continued, “These upgraded versions also bring their own new features to the table: InData and InCatalog no longer require a separate copy of Xtags to handle XPress-Tagged text, and InCatalog adds link markers for page items as well as more complex SQL query support. Xtags adds full hyperlink creation via tags, supports drag-and-drop import, and adds above-line and custom positioning in anchored frames.”

Chris Ryland, Em’s president, noted, “Em Software’s tools can turn you into a production hero, whether it’s crunching hundreds of pages of raw data into a print-ready book with InData, turning externally-tagged text into finished documents with Xtags, or keeping your catalog document prices and descriptions in sync with an external database, using InCatalog.”

Ryland added, “We have one of the most generous upgrade protections in the industry (one year), and many of our customers will be able to upgrade without cost to these latest versions.”

Pricing and Availability:
Upgrades to these products are free for CS4 versions purchased after September 15, 2009, and otherwise cost $150 (USD) each for InData and Xtags, and $300 for InCatalog (1-packs). InData and Xtags are $400 new, and InCatalog is $800 new, or $1200 with ODBC support (Pro version).

  • I really love this extension because it made my work more efficient.

But one thing I would want to come in future is to change and manage my data-descriptors.

When I update my descriptor due to new fields for example, I have to clear and relink every mapped item to the new data-descriptor.

Maybe I make a mistake. I would like to receive posts/comments to this topic.

    Thanks in advance!
