This Month in InDesign Articles, August 2018
We’re at that little seasonal lull, when thoughts of InDesign are too-easily pushed from mind by family vacations or a sudden foray into a new piece of software. But InDesign never sleeps! And the articles and videos are building up. Here’s some you don’t want to miss:
- Colin Flashman makes an impassioned (and very reasonable!) plea for an Australian dictionary in InDesign.
- Ken Jones explains various kinds of print proofs, and what you should or shouldn’t expect
- Kris Coppieters wrote a brilliant script called Gryperlink which can look for various patterns in text and apply a hyperlink to them
- Are you on the Adobe InDesign prerelease? If not, why not?! Did you know Adobe is working on a feature that lets you import Acrobat comments into InDesign?!
- Here’s another new feature that appears to be coming to InDesign in the future: Preview Typekit Fonts inside InDesign
- Adobe’s Ash Ryan Arnwine wrote up this piece about the future of extensibility. (Including some nice words about the Creative Developer Summit, where they presented.)
- Here’s another one from Colin: Post CreativePRO New Orleans update
- Chris Converse wrote a lovely piece about finding glyphs in OpenType fonts on the Adobe blog.
- Kelly Vaughan explains how to make Caution and Warning headers using paragraph shading
- After Lynda.com mysteriously cut Bert Monroy’s wonderful title “The Making of Times Square” (great Illustrator and Photoshop training) he decided to release all the videos for free on youtube. Thanks, Bert!
- Hey, Monotype just added 600 new fonts to Adobe Typekit!
- You care about print, right? Millennials may help save it!
- Are you a developer? There’s a new, better, easier version of the Adobe Exchange (marketplace).
- You’ve probably never seen InDesign do this with radio buttons and other form objects before!
- How do you find and fix overset text frames in InDesign?
Enjoy!
It says the InDesign UserVoice site is deactivated, is that correct?
That seems to be the case. And not just InDesign, all the Adobe UV pages. Sigh. We will investigate.
It is down temporarily only.
Thanks, Colin. Was any advance notice given? No one I’ve asked knew anything about it. And no response on Twitter to my asking about it.
Looks like a one-off tech issue that caught most people by surprise. Have a read of ohmnath’s comments in this thread: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2529125
