Some eagle-eyed readers will be quick to point out that we missed my monthly round-up of articles in November. Well, that just means a giant bonus crop this month!

Enjoy!

I loved the last item. In the early 80s I worked at an old established printing company that specialized in college catalogs and prospectuses. At that time they were still using hot type (linotype machines), but also had Comp/Set phototypesetting machines, which produced camera-ready text in galley form. It was my job to trim the galley pages to size and then paste in corrections noted by the proofreaders. I later worked in the camera/stripping/platemaking department. Although I am not nostalgic about the cut fingers, wax burns, and darkroom chemical fumes, I at least have an appreciation for the processes that pre-date desktop publishing. I am looking forward to seeing the documentary when it comes out!
