This Week in InDesign Articles, Part 3
People send me links to InDesign articles… I find them on people’s blogs… Here’s a few that caught my eye this week:
- Claudia uncovers the Library naming bug and then discusses how to get TOCs in PDFs
- Thomas Silkjær comes through again with a cool free InDesign template that includes a wide range of styles you can modify to your own needs.
- FoldFactory.com has launched a series of videos on folding paper… no, not origami — real paper folding at a bindery. Very educational! Check ’em out.
- This has nothing to do with InDesign at all, really, but I found it fascinating: What if HTML5 made a dent in Flash/Silverlight? Then, Adobe’s response to such an idea.
- An interesting 2-part article on designing magazines.
- Neil Oliver continues to do some nice introductory videos at CreativeMentor. Here’s one on the Preview mode.
- Zevrix has released both 3.3.8 of LinkOptimizer and also released a public beta of version 4!
- Gabriel Powell offers an interesting video about the commercial EasyCatalog plug-in from 65-bit at InstantInDesign.
Enjoy!
Hot story this week is that Gridiron Flow Release Candidate is now available at the Gridiron website for download. I’ve been beta testing Flow since I think beta #4 or thereabouts, and I love it.
You mentioned it in an earlier post and it’s gotten better and better with each round of beta.
At this pre-release stage there have been some phenomenal enhancements. It has already changed the way I work with InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator, but now they’ve taken the program to a new level of integration with the Creative Suite apps in particular. The full release should be quite soon, I think.
(I have no connection with Gridiron, other than as a beta tester for Flow.)
I’m looking for the DVD cover template in my brand new InDesign CS4. I see all the templates, including the DVD disc template, but no cover? Am I looking in the right place? Or is this a boo-boo? If it’s not there, where can I find one? (Cover, spine and back cover would be nice).
