I’m writing a book which frequently includes names, places and other things in the body copy of each chapter, things that I don’t wish to hyphenate. What’s best? To add each name as a GREP style mapping to a No Break character style or just running a Find/Change on each story?

I always search for the names and replace with a no-break character style. Other times I’ve added the names to my hyphenation exception list and tell them not to hyphenate (by adding a tilde in front of it).

I know some people who set their hyphenation so it doesn’t hyphenate capitalized words. That will pretty much ensure names, names of places, etc. don’t break. But neither will any other capitalized words.

What Dwayne said. I’d go with creating hyphenation exceptions as you go, or if there are too many, disable hyphenating capitalized words. GREP styles can slow processing down if you have too many.
