      Hello

I am working on a large document in InDesign CC and my manager requires me to have a copy of the document that they can edit. They are not familiar with InDesign but prefer to use Apple’s Pages program.

Does anyone know of a successful way to convert InDesign documents to Apple Pages documents so that someone else can make changes to the document?

I know this is probably not possible but I am still wondering if anyone has a workaround.

      Thanks in advance.

One solution is to use ID2Office (Recosoft) which will convert an InDesign file to MS Word and that can be edited, but not very easily. Text appears in text boxes and does not flow between boxes, so serious editing (adding or deleting test isn’t easy). Another possibility which I have tried is to export the InDesign file as a PDF file and then use a PDF editor (Nuance PDF Converter, Wondershare PDF Converter Pro, Wondershare PDFElement) to edit.

I’ve never had that request, but could you export the ID file as a RTF file (and then resave as a Word file). They they can open the Word file with Apple’s Pages?

The text would be all formatted, but things like running heads and stuff would not come through.

And it would depend upon how complicated the design is.

Hi Tom, I would suggest to convert the file in a Word editable document, but the only way to have a professional result is to re-build it from zero. It can be very difficul and poblematic if you are not very confident with Word, but can have a quick and efficent solution paying a small fee to a professional service (for example adobetoword.com).
