Hi there can anyone help with this one? I am designing a cookbook with a bulleted list for the ingredients. I have applied a character style to the bullets so that they are coloured but I want to apply a new colour to each new recipe. Rather than create a new para style for each recipe is there a way I can keep the one style for ingredients but change the character style to change the colour each time?
This is what I’d do.
Create a Paragraph Style called “Recipe Bullets Master”
Then with this Paragraph Style highlighted I would click the “Create New Paragraph Style” button.
This duplicates your Master style.
Rename this to “Recipe Bullets <Colour>”
Similarly do the same with the Character Styles.
Now, all you need to do is change the Master Style and all the other attributes (bar the colour) will change, fonts, sizes, leading, paragraph spacing etc. are all tied to the Master Style.
In essence the other styles are “Child” styles.
This shouldn’t take long to set up. And it’s easy to implement.
