Tagged: GREP
A have a table in which the data in the first column of each row is a word that represents an investment sector (ie: Technology) in the second column of each row I’d like to have InDesign pull from a list of sector abbreviations (ie: UTL.I) and populate the cell with the corresponding abbreviation.
For example:
This :
Technology
Utilities
Telecom
Industrials
Financials
Becomes this
Technology UTL.I
Utilities REI.I
Telecom TEL.I
Industrials SCT.I
Financials TEC.I
Is this something that can be done using GREP? Or am I better off to try and do it in excel?
Hi Steve,
this cannot be done with GREP, cause you must collect things in one place and try to insert in another place. This can be done with scripting! But, if you have the chance to merge the content in Excel, this would surely be the easiest way.
