      Hello,

If I open an Indesign CS6 file and then select a bunch of images and text boxes and COPY them > jump into Indesign CC18 and PASTE those items, they all come in as one image. They don’t retain their original boxes or anything, it is literally one big image. Is this normal or a bug, or is there some setting that I’m missing? We just switched over from CS6 to CC and one of my co-workers is starting to build her first catalog and asked me why this is happening. Anyone experienced this before or have a work around?

      Thanks

InDesign isn’t really designed to have CS6 and CC running at the same time and have you copy and paste from one into the other.

I would strongly suggest either opening the CS6 file in CC and copying from there, or save items from CS6 as Snippets (file > export) and then place the snippets in CC.

      Thanks David,

When I did some more digging to find out why this was happening, my designer told me that they were trying to copy from CS6 to CC and I said, “Just open the CS6 file into CC and do your copy / paste, and don’t save the CS6 file.” Which works of course.

I just didn’t know if it was some setting on her machine that I wasn’t familiar with, or a compatibility issue. So CC to CC it is!
