Hi everyone.
Is there a way to customize the numbered (alphabetical) list? I would like to use the Italian alphabet, which doesn’t include letters like J, K, Y…
I know there are some workarounds… I wonder if there is a proper solution, though.
That’s a fascinating question! I don’t know of any way to do that “built-in” but I wonder if you change the language to Italian if it changes that?

The only other way I can think of is to create a custom font (using any font tool, such as IndyFont or Fontlab or something) that skips those letters. For example, if there is no “J” and “K” then you’d put the “M” in the place of the “J” and so on.
Thank you, David!
My ui is in Italian already. I’m afraid the ui language doesn’t affect the numbered lists behaviour.
It’s not a major issue anyway.
Actually, the greatest challenge for non-fiction book designers in Italy are tables. Italian authors love writing long texts into tables, but InDesign doesn’t split cells across pages. Big trouble. Maybe my next topic on this forum :-D
