My client has some very strict color guidelines on some frequently used primary and secondary colors, documented in both RGB and CMYK values.
Nevertheless, there are very distinct perceptual differences in the definition of these colors (no way of convincing them to change this), eg:
CMYK 14,36,0,10 and both RGB 186 196 140 should yield a light green but both colors differentiate at least 15% in tone…

I need both an RGB (web viewing in PDF) and a reliably similar CMYK output for offset print; and in the meantime I need to export this lay-out out of the same source file with the same (eventually adapted) color swatches…
      any solution ?

This is because, RGB has a bigger gamut than CMYK. So the CMYK and RGB will always differ especially with Red, Green and Blue shades. I hope the below given url will spread some light on it. You can search more about it on the net.

Not really an answer to my problem; let’s put if differently:
given a certain CMYK color eg M80Y100 (orange), the main logo-color of my client, which is due to its nature not really vibrant on screen, should keep these values for printing, but when exported as a digital document for screen, it should be converted to a specific RGB color or put hexadecimal: #FF3700
I would like to keep these values in one swatch and when exporting this to other formats, get this converted automatically to this specific color.
I thought I could do something with the ink manager, but this seems limited.

You could use a tool like Pitstop to convert the colors in the pdf you export, assuming that’s your final output. In Pitstop, you can make little scripts that would do the conversion very fast for all colors at once. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any means to do this directly in InDesign if you are outputting to jpeg or something like that.
