I did an epub for someone out of an .indd document. I was able to see it fine off my Ipad and ADE but the person says they get a message saying they cant see the e pub as it says DRM protected.

I do not know what device they are using, but this is the first time I’ve come across this . What do I do here?

      thx

strange! Since you can only apply DRM via selling it in the Apple store and turning on that option (or equiv for Kindle store), or if you have one of the uber expensive Adobe License Server subscriptions, my guess is that they’re doing something wrong. ;-D Could be as simple as opening a previous EPUB downloaded from the iBookstore and confusing it with yours?

I would ask them to email you the epub that’s giving them that message and see if you replicate the problem.

OR it could be they’re trying to preview it via BookProofer, which won’t work with EPUBs containing encrypted fonts. In that case it does throw an alert about not being able to deal with encrypted EPUBs.

Turn off the “Include Embeddable Fonts”.

I’ve had this same problem with Kindles created from an ePub exported from CC2018 and run through the Kindle Previewer 3. I put the .mobi in a Dropbox folder, then try to open it on my Kindle Fire with the Dropbox app. It tells me it can’t open because it’s protected by DRM. This happens even if I deselect Include Embeddable Fonts in the export.
