If any members of this forum need free script system to work with MathType (6.* or 6.*) equations in InDesign 6.* (CS4) write me, please. This script system (named MT-Script1-08 (last version)) allow to edit equation and create new equation (within InDesign), correctly set baseline shift for equations, automatically control shifting of lines before and after line with equation, detect doubling equation and correct this problem, allow format equation in selection region using MathType preference file and so on.
This script system was tested by users of forum https://forum.rudtp.ru/showthre…..&pp=20. (This forum is in Russian).
Now MT-Script1-08 have menu and message written on Russian, but if you have interest to this scripts I can translate MT-Script interface to English.

This sounds like a great script, I'm always having to import MathType in to InDesign, and find adjusting baselines, etc. a real pain at times. I'd be happy to give the English version of the script a go, when it becomes available.
(Tried to reply to this post a couple of times, but can't seem to get it to work, sorry if my comments appear more than once)

Ok, 10-15 Jan 2010 I’ll give you address to load the english-russian version of my MT-Script. The language of this versions will be switch as automatically by the version of your InDesign as manually by user (you). But I have some request to say me remarks about my translation and possible bags with script. Thank you.

Hi Mikizil,
this sounds great! As we are making a lot of school books, more than once with math and formula's, we are always looking for methods to manage these items more economically.
Thanks a lot!

Please, load last version of script system MT-Script1-09 from my Internet-page https://www.mt-script.narod2.ru…..inenglish/
This version has english-russian interface. Sorry, but user manual in English is not ready, however you can read short help tips, associated with visual elements in main dialog. English user manual will be just a bit later.
Installation. Unzip script to the folder “c:users(..You name…)RoamingAdobeInDesignVersion 6.0…ScriptsScripts panelMT-Script1-09”.
Open InDesign menu “Edit/Preferences/Composition/” and switch off “Skip by Leading”.
If you need new menu element “MT-Script1-09”, please copy MT-Start1-09.jsx to the Startup script folder (c:program files (x86)Common FilesAdobeStartup Scripts CS4Adobe InDesign) (this is for Vista, for XP – “Program Files”, no “(x86)”).
This scripts work only on PC (Windows XP, Vista) and only with Adobe InDesign CS4. Also Microsoft Word, MathType (5.* or 6.*) would be installed.
MT-Dialog1-09 – script with global settings.
MT-PlaceEq1-09 – use this script to place WMF or EPS equation files to InDesign publication with tegs <<Eqn***.***>>.
MT-EditEq1-09 – to edit selected equation.
MT-NewEq1-09 – to create and place new equation in InD.
MT-ClearDoubleLinks1-09 – to detect and “delete” double (only equation) links. Don't worry nothing would be deleted. For example, two equations in you publication have linked to the “Eqn0010.eps”. This script copy Eqn0010.eps to Eqn(Max number +1).eps and relink one of this equations to this “new” file. And when you editing one of this equation the next is not editting.
MT-TreatEq1-09 – to process (treat) selection or all publication to set equation leading and equation wrapping.
MT-Common1-09 – the library of functions for MT-Script1-09
RemoveScriptMenu1-09 – to remove menu “MT-Script1-09” with all submenu from InD.

Sorry, forget,
MT-Convert1-09 – to batch process equation in selection or all publication (if nothing selected).
This script take MTEF-structure from equation's files and save to txt-file, load Word with this file.
You would run “Convert equations…” from menu “MathType” in Word.
MathType script convert MTEF-structure to equations. Then format (as you need) and export equations. Folder for export script set automatically. You would choose only file type.
After equation's export (when no equations in Word document) save this document only as text. (Please, simple close Word, answer “Yes” and “Yes”.)
Then script continue work, relink corresponding equations to new files and process selection (or all publication).

Hi Mikizil,
Didn't realize this was going to be a PC only script . Any plans to tweak it for a Mac at some stage?

The restriction of MT-Script – only Windows version – because scripts uses as JavaScript (the main body of script) as VBA (to start MathType and Word from InDesign and to work with registry and in future to work with Internet).
I hope that this restriction is not principle, but now I have only PC with no plans (and no necessity personally for me) to buy Mac. There for I have no plans (and possibilities too) to write MT-Script for Mac now.
Future plans are
– user manual in english (pdf and html);
– internet update for MT-Script (is ready and under test);
– script for conversion of simple (one line) MathType created equations (for example, x = 0, sin x > 0 and so on) to text;
– script for export InDesign publication to Word for autors and editors (which are not ready to work with InDesign).
“Distant” plan – using ideas from MT-Script to write plugin for InDesign.
Thank you.

Hello Mikizil,
I see that you are planning on creating a script that will export and Indesign publication with mathtype equations into a word document with working mathtype equations for authors and editors … is this correct? I have searched the internet high and low for a script to do this. I was really hoping I would not have to write it myself. Have you started working on this yet? When do you think you could have this script working … I would be more than willing to test it for you. This is a wonderful idea!!

March 17, 2010 at 12:40 am #55179Mikizil VladislavMemberThank you for your interest to my scripts.The script (PC-version) for editable mathtype equations to be exported from an indesign (CS4) document to Word document is almost ready. The conversion procedure (from EPS or WMF to ASCII-MTEF, another words, from equation-graphics to equation-text in InD document) is realized (for example) in the script MT-Convert from my MT-SCRIPT system. For the script InD_to_Word I would write procedure to collect all stories in InD into one “great” story and simple interface procedure. All other procedures are ready and tested in MT-SCRIPTS.
About other idears from post 7.
Internet update for MT-SCRIPT is ready.
User manual in English is not ready. Sorry. Sorry. I would (I must) write it!
Now I'm writing script for Find and Change texts and text's settings in MathType equations for InD CS4. I hope the beta-version would be ready from any days. As soon as then I write in this forum.

Has the script been updated in English for InDesign CS6 running on Windows 7? If so, How can I purchase the English version?
Thanks,

Marie:
I was able to locate him. If you go to:
and scroll down to where you see some green check marks, he has a note at the end of the check marks with a link to his email address. I wrote him tonight, but have not received a reply yet. My interest is in CS6, but I would imagine that the script would work with 5.5 if it works with 6.
Good luck.
