      Hi. I am new here.
I am a amateur user of InDesign CS6 but this time I am finishing a book with 400 pages that I will send to a printer during the next two week.
The book has 13 chapters and I use the book option.
There are 236 pictures inside, all of them with 300dpi (CMYK).
This week I generate a small prototype to the printer but they informed that the PDF file was in 150dpi.
In the book I have two possible options, “Export book to PDF” and “Print Book” but none of them ask me about dpi.
To create the PDF I usually select the “Cute PDF Writer” as a printer.
My doubt is, where I set to 300 dpi the PDF generation, or what I am doing in wrong way ?
Sorry for my poor english and thanks in advance for any help.
      Best regards

Use Export Book to PDF and choose Adobe PDF (Print). In the panel that appears, click on ‘Compression’ in the listing on the left side of the panel. You will then see a panel where you can set the dpi for images and so on.

I strongly suggest, however, that you ask your printing house if they have a PDF settings file (xxx.joboptions) tuned to their equipment or if they would like you to use one of the standard presets (shown in brackets, like this [PDF/X-1a:2001] ) supplied with InDesign.

Hi Lindsey. Thank you very much for the infos. Next Monday will contact the printer as you suggest. Have a nice weekend.
