I'm not sure I understand. Are you talking about footnote numbering, or making the footnote text go across pages?
Check the Type > Document Footnote Options dialog box for some help.
Also, search this site for “endnotes”. Unfortunately, InDesign does not do endnotes itself, but there are some scripts you can use.

When i add a footnote to one textbox and another footnote to another textbox, the footnote numbering restarts.
I need continuous numbering for my footnotes so that my endnotes will arrange in numeric order.

John87, make sure that the textframes are linked, the footnote numbers will be updated and continued automatically.

Dear Gert,
Can you please explain me how to link the text frames? I’m having the same issues as John87 with one very important document. I have footnotes at the end of a column and I need to add footnotes from other text frame to be continuous on this column.
Thanks in advance!

Okay i got it! BUUT now i like my textframes to work independenty of each other. Meaning that, when i make a linebreak (key:ENTER) in my first textframe, the linebreak should not follow in the next textframes.
BASIC PROBLEM:
I shall make a repport where i have footnotes at all my references.. In the end of my rapport i need a overview of all my footnotes.

Hi Everyone
I have a long document with a few footnotes.
the document has a few sections, I put each section in a separated text frame, because I don’t want each miner change should take an hour, but I want the footnote numbering should continue between section.
Is there any way to do this?
Thanks;

There is no easy way to do it other than create footnotes manually. The next issue of InDesign Magazine (coming out next week!) will have a feature article all about footnotes by the master, Peter Kahrel.

In InDesign magazine issues 95 and 105 you can read everything about footnotes and endnotes. With the new endnotes you have the option to let them flow from story to story.
