      Hi :)

I have been using the script MultiPageImporter (https://creativepro.com/zanelli-releases-multipageimporter-for-importing-both-pdf-and-indd-files.php/comment-page-2#comment-502696) for two years now (CS4 and CS5/CS5.5) with great success and it has really helped me in my job countless times. My problem is that my workplace have upgraded to CS6 (yay!), but that also meant that I can't get the script to work anymor.

All I now get is an errormessage saying: “Error: Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation.”

When I press ok I get another message saying:

      “Javascript Error!

      Error number: 89867

Error string: The default engine 'main' cannot be deleted

      Engine: main

File: *path to script on my computer*

      Line: 522

      Source: exit(-1);”

Does anyone who know how to script see if it is possible to fix this? I remember that when we upgraded to CS5 I discovered on a webpage that all I had to do was to exchange a few lines of code, but I can't remember where I found it :-( I work on a Windows 7 if that has anything to do with it.

In advance, thanks for all help! Have a great summer!

I just tested it in CS6 (Windows 7) and it works for me as is. Are you able to place this file manually?

I just started getting the same error. I'm using InDesign CS5.5 VS 7.5.3 and Windows 2010. Has anyone figured this out yet?

I'm with Kasyan on this: I'm using CS6 at home and work on Mac OSX platforms (10.6 and 10.7) and that script works fine. Just make sure that the script being used is MultiPageImporter2.5-CS5.jsx (an update of Scott Zanelli's original script) and this is available from the indesignsecrets link posted by the OP.

What can cause MultiPageImporter2.5 to fail though is if it is placing a PDF based upon placement options in the PDF that don't exist in that specific PDF. If this is the case, perhaps import using the placement option of Media Box or Bounding Box.

I know this topic is old but today I received the same error message and found a fix. It was not a matter of a certain InDesign version, but a matter of the PDF itself. The one I was trying to upload was about 500 pages big.
In the initial dialogue window it already said that it couldn’t “determine PDF page count: all pages will be imported”. So I figured this might be part of the problem – maybe it was simply too big. I split the PDF file in two new files of 250 pages, and the problem was fixed.
Still, this could also mean the original PDF was corrupt and that all it took was to create a new one.
