I’m working with Indesign CC 2018 (paid and legal!). Since 2015 we work with interactive pdf’s and insert manually hyperlinks by the hyperlinkpanel. It all worked well till a few weeks ago. Since then, inserted hyperlinks are… gone. When we openend a .indd file some or all hyperlinks were gone. Also Page links became empty https:// and the other way around, a working hyperlink became an empty page link. In the exported interactive pdf file everything was working well.

We tested it several times to find a pattern: is it because it is a shared hyperlink, because we sometimes merge files withanother, because the name is too long or end on a digit?

We found no pattern at all. We took our losses and happily manually inserted a few hunderd hyperlinks again…:)

Anyone else encountered this problem or might have a clue what to do to avoid this problem?

      Thanks beforehand,

      Ewald

In addition, we use PXM to get info from our Sitecore-managed website in which we add the hyperlinks mentioned. Is it possible some debris from Sitecore floats into Indesignfiles and causes these problems?

Wow that sounds terrible and really frustrating. I don’t know what PXM is, but my guess is that you’re using some kind of script or plug-in to import that content? Maybe that is causing the problem.

In general, hyperlinks should not just disappear like that. It is possible that there was some kind of document corruption, so you could try exporting the file as IDML and then opening that IDML file again, just to clean it up. But again, normally that should not be necessary.

PXM is indeed a plugin(Print eXperience Manager).

Sitecore is our source of data, we think an update caused this and the PXM plugin update always comes much later.
We tested with IDML and that seems to help.

      Thanx David!
