Like many of you, I have saved a custom set of ID preferences which load each time I open ID (CS6, Mac).
Unfortunately, my ID crashes quite often and each time is restarts after a crash, my custom preferences are lost and replaced by the standard, generic version. (My custom preferences load fine if I properly quit and start ID.)
How can I save and reload my custom preferences so that I do not have to redo them each time ID crashes?
I tried a couple of things from different blogs with no luck.
Thanks in advance for your help :)
In general, when you make changes to InDesign’s default preferences you should quit InDesign immediately, and then restart. InDesign only saves your preferences when you quit normally.
If you need to back up your preference files, this article shows where you can find them:

It worked :) I made a back up “InDesign Defaults” file as per AMC’s post and reload it each time my ID crashes and so far it’s working. Thanks so much for the quick and knowledgeable help David.
