We’ve recently taken over management of over 50 prospectuses (each document around 100 pages long) that were previously put together in Word. We switched them over to InDesign as even though they are mostly text, the formatting (2 columns, footnotes, page headers different for left/right hand pages, TOC, etc etc) was a nightmare in Word.
Now we have them all in InDesign with all the para styles defined, master pages working great and everything fine and dandy. Except…
These documents are updated once a year. And this process means that we have to send documents out for revision to the writers. We cannot send the InDesign files, and would rather send them a manuscript (text only, no formatting) in Word, and then repopulate the Indesign document with the new copy, but this is a little tedious.
I am looking for suggestions on the best way to handle this… any ideas would be welcome!
