I have taken InDesign Scripting Made Easy, Up and Running with AppleScript and Foundations of Programming:Fundamentals on lynda.com. I’m trying to learn to do some basic scripting to be able to enhance workflow and cut out repetitive tasks. However, being more of a right brained person, I’m having trouble really getting it so that I can put it into practice.
Anyone have any suggestions on additional resources for learning how to do this?
I have tried searching online for scripts similar to what I’m trying to do to see if I can pull apart and edit to get what I want, but not having any luck there either.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I know this isn’t until June, but I believe we’re going to be running a “scripting and automation for beginners” full-day session at PePcon: The Print + ePublishing Conference, this June 8, in San Diego as part of the Creative Developers Summit.

So wish that was something I would be able to do.
Any chance it could be offered afterwards on lynda.com?

No, sorry, I don’t think that it will be recorded.
Are there specific things you need help with? One of the best ways to learn scripting (or any programming) is to “steal” other people’s scripts and then make small changes to them. That often gives you a sense for how things work.
You saw Keith’s article here?

I watched Keith’s class on lynda.com, and then went to the link you noted. Maybe I’ll try watching the class again and see if that helps.
I’m trying to cut the first line of text in a cell of a table, then move to the bottom of the cell and paste the cut text. I need the script to go through the entire document to repeat the steps to all cells in all tables. Seems like it should be simple. Not finding anything else out there like that so far to help. Gonna keep trying.
