Tagged: sidebar flow
I am working on a non-fiction book with multiple chapters. Each chapter is a separate document that has a single InDesign story. In each chapter I would like to include some examples as sidebars. Each example should begin immediately after the concept that it explains and should continue to the next page if necessary. Ideally, each sidebar will be formatted differently than the main body, perhaps with shading.
Anchoring a sidebar text box works if the entire box fits on the current page. Some examples are longer and need to flow to the next page. How can I format a sidebar so that it appears inline and flows to the next page if necessary?
Perhaps a single cell table?
Are the sidebars the same text measure as the text? Or off to the side of the page?
A separate paragraph style. Include paragraph shading.

Hi Peter,
What do you really mean?
Best,
