I have created a large product catalog in CS6. Along with the catalog, I distribute a spreadsheet with item numbers, descriptions and pricing. I would like to be able to add page numbers for each item to the spreadsheet. Is there any way to link objects or text in Indesign to a spreadsheet to create auto page numbers? With over 1400 items, I’d rather not go through the entire list manually to change page numbers if anything changes in the catalog.
Probably easiest to create a table of contents or index, then copy and paste it into a spreadsheet… that wouldn’t be linked automatically, but wouldn’t take too much work to get into Excel every now and then.
There are probably third-party tools (EasyCatalog?) that let you do some of this, but I’m not sure.
Thanks David. I’ll look into your suggestions. Much appreciated!
