I need to place multiple PDFs into a new InDesign document. This is a PDF someone made by scanning an old book. I tried using the placemultipagepdf script to place the pages of the PDF, but it turned into a mess. So, I extracted all the pages of the PDF into separate PDFs in a folder. Is there a script to batch import separate PDFs from a folder and place them one on a page in an InDesign file? Thanks.
Not sure how that’s going to help your mess. Can you describe what went wrong with the multipage script?
Simply use InDesigns script-function. Select Javascript – ImageCatalog, and set it to 1 perpage – then InDesign will place 1 pdf per page.
Using the multipage script, the placed pages are cropped, text mangled. Using Image catalog the pages are placed as tiny spreads in the middle of a page. I’ll probably just do it manually.
MultiPageImport retains previous settings; make sure they are set correctly. This is my default setup:

Maybe your PDFs have irregular bounding boxes? You may need to adjust the Crop to: choice to Art or Crop, etc.
Placing a PDF won’t distort the image; View->Overprint Preview to get a more accurate preview.
It’s not going to work to use a script or even to place the pages as PDFs. They just look too bad. I’ve decided to open each in Photoshop and save as a tif or png, then place that in the ID layout.
