I tried everything to make a proper table of content, But failed. I have a 326 page books which have 6 chapters and on first spread of every chapter, there is an image and some intro. when i am trying to make TOC, it is showing complete intro, and alien type formatting.

      Please help me.

      Hi Sonu,

To make the table of contents, make sure that you are referencing the Paragraph Style applied to your Chapter Titles in the Table of Contents dialog box. If you are using the same Paragraph style for your intro and your chapter title, the Table of Contents will pull any content with that style. To make it easy, you can duplicate your style and give it a different name and apply it to your Chapter titles, and then in the Table of Contents dialog box, reference the new style. That should then pull the proper chapter names / page numbers. For a better reference, see one of these videos for assistance: https://www.lynda.com/InDesign-tutorials/Constructing-table-contents-TOC/120609/137594-4.html , https://www.lynda.com/InDesign-tutorials/Using-table-contents/129005/141322-4.html

      I hope this helps. :)

@Stephanie Moore — Hi, Stephanie. I saw your response to Sonu and am hoping you might be able to help me out. I’ve posted another question re TOC woes at “https://creativepro.com/topic/toc-style-not-showing-up-in-epub-export,” here in the forum. If you should have an opportunity to review my question and perhaps respond, I’d really appreciate it. I’m not having trouble generating the TOC, just … well, you’ll see the details in my post.

All the info I’m finding so far applies to epubs being exported from .indb’s vs. just one .indd. In the end, that might not even matter. I might be doing something else that is screwing things up. Anyway — any help would be appreciated! Even if it’s just a bit of brainstorming! :) Thanks much in advance.
