      Hello Everyone,

I know we can create an InDesign Preflight profile to be notified if there is any RGB or SPOT image used in the Document. Similarly is it possible to get an alert for the same every time the user save or export a file.

A script that can check for any RGB or SPOT images in the InDesign Document and then trigger a message accordingly.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

      Great :)

It seems the request is the toughest one, I haven’t seen a single reply on this.

      @David,

I remember, we used to have a community where people feel proud by sharing solutions to the problems, but it seems we’re loosing that. I think if this is going to continue, we’ll loose the charm as well.

I have a suggestion, how about creating a separate page under the Forums section, just below the “Announcements”, https://creativepro.com/forums, name it “Request for Paid Scripts & Plugins”, And let all the money making guys sit there.

Sorry, but I’m not offending anyone. I said what I felt.

      Masood,

If I understand well what you mean about the question you’ve posted 2 days ago, that seems to be enough complex to need a “coder” and so a script, so totally forget my last comment and note this new one I hope you’ll appreciate more:

“You’re right! As you, I think your question could need a script! … Sorry to have no more immediate idea and free time to spend on your problem!”

I’m not sure… can a script look inside a placed graphic?

The Preflight panel can track whether there are any spot colors in the document. If you have placed a graphic with a spot color, then InDesign should add that spot color to the Swatches panel, so that would trigger that warning.

The Package feature alerts you to RGB images inside the document. So you could start package to see if there is an alert, and then cancel.

I definitely like the idea of setting up a place where scripters can make money… but it is tricky. In general, I think scripters should simply respond either “That is possible, and here is a free script” or “That is possible, but it would take some time to develop, so I would have to charge for it. Please contact me…”

      Hi David,

[JS]: “space” [ It’s my good action of the day! ;-) ]

About your last comment: This won’t never enough! …

Personally, I’ll be ready and very proud to share the scripts I write … when the guys who’ll download them will be ready and very proud to share the money they take to their clients using my work! … But apparently, for some, pride really seems to depend on which side of the wallet you are!

      Masood,

I apologise for the delay but Christmas is a nightmare time for me as I’m neck-deep in producing printed collateral for schools for the start of the following year. I wasn’t ignoring the post, I just didn’t see it.

I’ve created a script that makes it impossible (or at least difficult) for anyone to print or export a PDF unless the chosen preflight profile has zero errors. I’ve made a video of that script in action here: https://youtu.be/hffI_rHR9g8

To gauge whether the script is a feature worth incorporating into future versions of InDesign, I’ve made the script a “request only” so that I can gauge responses and forward this information onto Adobe for their programming team. To my surprise, there’s been very little interest in it. My cut and stack script and coloured QR code scripts that were previously “request only”… lots of requests, but barely any for this one. If you like the video and want a copy, get in touch with me via my website that’s linked in the youtube video. The script is free but is available on request only.

So far as providing free scripts go, I’m of this opinion: If it’s in the wider interest of the InDesign community as the script may patch an issue or introduce a feature that ought to be there; or if it will generate traffic for my website, I’ll release it for free in the public domain (If I know how to write it). If it’s a one-off request for a bespoke project that MAY interest someone else on rare occasions, then perhaps a private message to the individual that the custom script can be created for a fee is more appropriate than posting the message publicly on a forum.
