I just started a new job (yay!) and they have a brand new iMac with the latest everything (oh boy?). InDesign seems to work just fine, but I am having trouble with scripts that work just fine on Win10. I copied the scripts into the proper folder on the mac and they show up in the panel. However, any script in that (script) User section (all the ones I just copied) will not execute. They seem to start, then I get a soft “dong” and nothing happens. I can execute the sample scripts. I have looked in Finder to be sure the permissions are set for read/write, and I still get the same problem.

In a possibly related issue, if I try to edit the script, nothing happens. Scripting toolkit doesn’t launch, though it is installed and available. I can even launch the scripting toolkit and open the jsx files. If I try to debug, it fails on every command (the same soft dong), including just setting a parameter. I have tried changing the focus to InDesign with the same results.

      What am I missing?

I have found a workaround. First, I finally was able to get the Extend Script Toolkit to run the scripts, though I have to open the script file from Finder or the Toolkit Open menu, as it will not open the file by right clicking in the Scripts panel. Still, though, it would not run directly from the scripts panel.

The workaround was to move the scripts to the same folder as the application scripts rather than the user’s location. I don’t know why this makes a difference, as the user has sufficient privileges and the files and folders are not restricted so far as I can tell.
