Sayed: How did you get the footnotes in the middle of the page? Are those 2 different text frames? Are you using the InDesign footnote feature? Or did you make your own footnotes?

      • #95711

That was my first thought. It looks (and sounds like due to the subject title) that several text boxes were used.

If that’s the case Sayed, you can only have one text frame per page (threaded to each other).

i want the first text frame threaded to the first text frame on the next page.
and the second text frame threaded to the second text frame on the next page.
But i want to have all page footnotes together.

Yes, i have 2 different text frames.
i Convert footnotes to sidenotes (with sidenotes.jsx by Kahrel) just for the first text frame (i wanted them detached from text frame) , then i manually copy&paste it before the first footnote in the second text frame below.
then i set numbering footnotes from 3.
i know that, this is not a good idea, but i had no choice, except you guys help me. i need it.

      Hi
      My name is Sayedali Mousawi.
i’m originally from Afghanistan but now i live in iran.
i have a problem in indesign with footnotes.

i have a book with two part:
      1.main text
      2. description
      and both part have footnotes.
But the problem is that i need both footnote parts together like the left page on the picture.
(i made it manually for one page only but i need it to be done automaticly, because it’s a large book in several volume )
      Please HELP me.

I think you may need to use Peter Kahrel’s footnote scripts to create the footnotes instead of InDesign’s built-in feature.

i couldn’t find any script that make footnotes detached from text frame as a separate text frame.
can you give me the link.

      Sayedali,

Could you post a new screenshot? Thanks!

      Just 3 questions!

1/ How many pages in your book?
2/ How many notes in the “above” text frames
3/ Is there a risk that the layout moves?

        thank you!

        1. from 500 to have many it goes.
        2. it depends, some pages no footnotes, some pages 4 or 5.
        3. Yes there is but we can do our best and make every thing not moving.

      Hi,

What numbering do you use for the footnotes?
      Page, Spread, Section or Doc?

      Hello,
I am facing similar difficulty: I have an inset text with a footnote in a separate text frame. My client wants the footnote to align with those in the main text at the bottom of the page and numbered consecutively with the other footnotes. Is there any way or easy workaround to do this? I am currently manually adding superscript number in the inset and the footnote text at the bottom of the page to align with the others.

      Thank you!

      Hi,

… “Is there any way or easy workaround to do this?”

If “easy”, somebody would have already written a script for that! =D

      Doable? … Surely!

[Such a script is not proposed for free because I think such a gratuity no longer values scripters’ real work and knowledge, as it may have been the case by the past!]

Thank you, Obi-wan, for letting me know there’s no free script to do this.
If you know of a site where I can buy such a script, would you kindly give me a link?
If not, I suppose I have to create it myself.

I thought I could work around by converting text to table, but InDesign doesn’t allow footnotes in a table cell as does in Word.

      Hi,

Tell me in private for what price you could be OK! I’ll answer you if I’m interested to write it!

I’m also having such feedback, could you please anyone confirm whether this can be achieved?
