Hello,
First of all, I would like to thank the creators of this website+forum: the info contained is really amazing!
I’m writing because despite having followed Ann-Marie’s advice (https://www.lynda.com/InDesign-tutorials/Using-Word-InDesign-Together/122930-2.html) and having tried to convince authors to simplify things and follow the guidelines to avoid problems, eventually, either on purpose or inadvertently, there is always lots of cleanup to do if the content is made with MS Word.
I was, therefore, thinking of another approach, focusing on other, simpler, software that the authors could use to write their text, exporting/saving into something that InDesign can digest easily.
Do you have any suggestion?
The books I do the layout for are fairly simple, with few fonts, page notes and images, so nothing fancy would be necessary.
The only quirk is the fact that I often have two types of script (roman and East Asian) on the same line that seems to confuse InDesign.
Any comment and/or suggestion is welcome.
Thank you,
Clemens
