I’m working on a academic textbook with a complex structure, including endnotes. My client has delivered proper documents with footnotes, and I used the (native) option in Indesign to convert them to endnotes.
I did this 50+ times, as all chapters were imported separately — and so all endnotes come in separately. All endnotes are put in one big story at the end, with a manually inserted titles to separate the parts.
I have to do text corrections now — you know how this goes. No big deal, but it seems Indesign has a lot of problems with this in the part of the endnotes story in the end of the document. It is running very very slow.
      Is this a known/documented problem?
No problems when I navigate through and make changes in the body text stories, but once I have to make changes in the endnotes story, it takes a lot of time and patience.
I already quit the nifty import option of PDF comments, turned off overprint preview, preflight etc.
Can I temporarily disable the link between the reference in the text and the endnote?
I prefer not to convert the hyperlinks (lots of references to online sources in endnote apparatus) as it has to work properly in interactive format as well.
      Any suggestions?
?Feel free to comment, thanks in advance. ???
