Does anyone know if there is a way to add inset spacing in a table cell with a fill?

I am creating an application and thought the best approach was to create a table. Ideally, some of the table cells will be a fill in portion of an alternate color. However, there needs to be spacing between the boxes. I’ve attempted using the stroke function, but do not see an option to align the stroke to the inside. PDF sample linked below.

Thanks for any help or insight!

Mary, table strokes are always created from the middle. So you cannot do that easily with strokes. But if you work with a never version of InDesign, you can fake this with paragraph shading and the inset controlls the thickness of the “pseudo” strokes.

hm, to late for an edit: If this isn’t much more complicated, I would use maybe one textframe with spanning columns instead of a table.

      Hi,

      Sorry! I don’t understand! … It’s just a table!! ;-)

I appreciate the humor, but an explanation would be nice. :)

      That’s why I show the 2 screenshots!!

      Ha! Ha!

I guess I’m just not sure what function was used to create the inset spacing. Did you use the paragraph shading or create a rule by chance?

Generally I can figure these things out, but this one is stumping me!

      Thanks!

A lot say I’m a magician! … But here, no magic! It’s a true and simple table built with basic strokes!

The more incredible is that, even when I explain it, nobody believes me!

… Because everybody prefers Magic! Paradoxically, it’s more reassuring

      As you see: No humor!

Mary, maybe it is a bit clearer, if someone show you the strokes in different colors. I don’t like this kind of work, if you will go with it, you will surely know after same time, what I mean.

However: The not magic trick is, to give everything outside stroke too.

      Hi Kai,

I don’t see why you “don’t like this kind of work”! … It’s just a table built with table basic features!! ;-)
And I find it’s a very good sample to learn more about “Cell Strokes” manipulation!
