I’m wondering if this is possible.
I have an InDesign document that I want to automate page numbers in the form of a Table of Contents (not necessarily creating a TOC). I would also like the generated page numbers inside the TOC to follow paragraphs across pages. For example, I have a paragraph that flows across page 2 and 3—I would like the page number generation to read 2-3. I would also like to be able to name the “linked” text what I want (see below):
My Created Text…………………..2-3
Is this possible, or do I have to manually add in page numbers? I’m not looking to necessarily do this with the built-in TOC feature.
I guess what I am really asking is how do I create a cross reference that displays a paragraph flowing across multiple pages, rather than just where it starts?
You could do that with the index feature (page range).
I tried the index feature, but it didn’t seem to be what I am looking for. I could be misunderstanding the index feature, too. Do you have any videos on creating indexes?
