I’m looking for a way to create right-indent tabbing that is hanging outside of either a text frame or an inset. We have a project where we need the breaks to be at a specific point, but still have the tabs going to the edge of the text frame or beyond the line break. It is basically preventing dangling, single words, or weird line breaks.
In MS Word, you can drag the right-margin dongle in the ruler area to the left creating a “right margin” breaking point for the text, but still have the right aligned tab and leader dots going beyond that margin to the edge of the document.
I’ve tried insets with tabbing, but the tabs break to the next line and/or stop at the right edge of the inset, instead of the right edge of the text frame. Does this make sense? Is this possible within InDesign?
Ok, I feel a bit silly, but I figured out what I need by accident. I created a right indent (inset), but changed the last line indent to the negative value of the right indent and that worked like a charm.
Glad you found it! The best option is usually to use a “Last Line Right Indent” like this:
