I am just starting to format a book for a client. Received a Word file and flowed it into my indesign file, (using most recent version of Indesign CC2015) Created a very basic paragraph style with just the first line indent and space after set to .125″ so I can start looking at what I have to work with First thing I see is that the text is jumping to the next page, leaving the previous page 1/4 to 1/3 empty. I have the invisibles turned on and can see that there are no page breaks inserted. There are widows and orphans all over the place and no reason for them that I can see. Any help? Is this a glitch in this recent version of Indesign?
I had similar issues. I turned on the hidden characters and saw non-space, white space. I did a find and replace, From: \S to: <space>

Hello,
I have a similar problem. For some reason the text breaks to the next page while there is still room. No style is applied to the text. If I make the frame larger, it takes a few more lines, but doesn’t let take the one or couple of lines needed to complete the page.
I can’t fine any hidden characters.
When I retype the whole problematic paragraph, or paste it from no formatted text (ex. Notepad) it does the same.
I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thank you.
