      Hi

I have an InDesign Book (.indb) where I have added InDesign documents to it but each document has its own Table of Contents.

If I delete pages in any of the documents then the ‘book’ automatically updates the page numbers across all the documents added to the book which is great however the Table of Contents in each document does not update so I have to manually go into each document and select Layout and ‘Update Table of Contents’ so that the new page numbers reflect accurately. Is there an easier or faster way to update these Tables of Contents all at once for all documents that are part of an InDesign book?

I wrote 2 or 3 weeks ago a script for the same task. You should find it, if you search after posts from me.

      Hi Kai

Thank you so much. I found your post here:

Update Multiple/All Table of Contents at once?

However how does this script work if I have multiple documents added to a book and each InDesign document has its own table of contents as the script appears to be for one document with multiple table of contents which is what the lady you assisted seemed to have had.

Would one have to have all the documents in the book open in InDesign and then run the script?

      Thank you again :)

      Hi Candice,

this happens, when you wrote something and you did not check, if this is correct :(
The mentioned script updated several TOCs in one doc. If you have multiple docs in one bookfile, the script must be rewritten.
