      Hello!

I’m creating an interactive document, exporting to Publish Online. I will be including 20+ videos, so in order to bring down the file size, I’m attempting to use Dropbox to host all of my videos. I made sure to place them directly in the “Public” folder on Dropbox. I copied the Dropbox link, pasted it into the Media panel in InDesign (“Video from URL”), deleted the “s” from “https://” and it works! The first frame of the video shows up on my page. Buuuut, when I export to Publish Online OR even just preview it in the EPUB preview window, the video is gone and I’m left with a blank page. I gave the page time to load in case it was just taking awhile, but it never appears. I also played around with all of the Media Panel settings (Auto play, the poster image, etc), but I get the same result. Any idea what it could be?

FYI, I’ve also figured out how to embed a YouTube/Vimeo video using the “Overlays” panel (referencing this article and its comments: https://blog.gilbertconsulting.com/2014/05/how-to-add-youtube-streaming-video-to.html). However, this option doesn’t allow me to create my own button to trigger the video to auto play with one click. The document I’m creating involves using small screenshots of the video with a custom “play” button created to trigger the video to open full screen and play automatically. Using the “Overlays” panel would force the reader to click twice before the video plays…which I would rather avoid if possible. Using the Media panel instead will enable me to do what I need to do…if the video would actually show up…

Sorry for the long post, but I just can’t seem to figure this out! Thank you!

Dropbox has deprecated the ‘Public’ folder and have a new procedure for linking. I’m not sure if it will serve your purposes. Search in Dropbox’s help for ‘shared links’.
